As King Lear steps down from the throne and divides his kingdom, the scorned bastard Edumund spins a plot for power. As the vultures circle the mad King and vie for the top spot, they find themselves diving into more ruthless and depraved tactics to clear the paths of succession. In a world where birth and standing mean everything, power doesn’t come to those who deserve it, it comes to those who take it.

When an old friend from the East comes calling asking Marguerite for any information she has on the Vigilante Superhero THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, Marguerite must navigate balancing her old life and the secrets of her past.

Metamorphoses is a reading series and new work development program for playwrights and adaptive artists who have work in various stages of development.

Plays for the 2025-2026 Metamorphoses program will be offered editorial feedback, have two staged readings of different drafts produced throughout the season, and be considered for future workshopping opportunities as they arise.

This program is meant for in-progress or recently drafted adaptive works that have not been produced or workshopped.
